2018 was one of the best years to own any video game console and 2019 is shaping up to be no slouch either. Titles such as the online mech multiplayer Anthem and Days Gone are definitely promising for next year. But perhaps the game I’m looking forward to the most feels like it could have come from the mind of Ridley Scott after watching Die Hard for the 45th time. Control from Remedy (Max Payne, Alan Wake) and 505 Games blends supernatural science fiction with pulse-pounding action. It was definitely one my favorite things to see at E3 2018 and I can’t wait for more.

A new trailer released by the studio just before the holiday introduces players to the unique world being created.

Not only is this world freaky and intriguing but the protagonist we saw in the E3 demo is equally promising as a possible addition to rank up there with Lara Croft and Aloy.

Control is set in a unique and ever-changing world that juxtaposes our familiar reality with the strange and unexplainable. After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, players will take on the role of Jesse Faden (Courtney Hope), the new Director struggling to regain Control. This sandbox-style, gameplay-driven experience built on the proprietary Northlight engine will challenge players to master a combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through the deep and mysterious worlds Remedy is known and loved for.

Control arrives on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
