KFC Supergirl fast food collab includes limited edition Krypto Collectible Bucket

With the much-anticipated Supergirl film set to fly into theaters in less than two weeks, the promotional campaign has already kicked into high gear. Case in point, earlier this week KFC® unveiled an all-new limited-time collaboration with the latest DC Studios film to launch the Supergirl Ultimate Meal, which includes one of five limited-edition blind bag collectibles featuring characters from the film: Supergirl (two versions), Lobo, Ruthye and Krypto. Since the collectibles are blind-bagged, fans won’t know which character they’ve scored until they open the box, making the hunt part of the fun for collectors and DC fans alike.

Also this week, KFC dropped an ultra-limited Krypto Collectible Bucket, a collectible version of the brand’s iconic chicken bucket inspired by the theater popcorn bucket craze dominating fandom culture and social feeds. The bucket features Puppy Krypto from the upcoming film and is designed as a reusable collectible fans can take from the drive-thru to movie night.

Though fast food chain tie-ins with big movie blockbusters is a common tradition, this Supergirl film collaboration is the first time in more than 20 years that KFC has collaborated for film-inspired collectibles. Incidentally, this isn’t the first time a chicken based fast food chain has been involved in the promotion of the Maiden of Might. The original 1984 Supergirl film featured heavy Popeyes product placement going so far as to build a full-size Popeyes restaurant on set at Pinewood Studios.
