Miami-based music label and game publisher, The Revera Corporation, announced today that Water Planet, their immersive audio-visual VR game developed by in-house music artist, VIRGO, is coming to PC, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift via Steam this Summer.

Water Planet is an immersive first-person VR exploration game set on a beautiful and mysterious distant blue planet, not too dissimilar to a future Earth. Players will take on the role of an interstellar traveler, gathering resources to fuel their interplanetary expedition into the unknown. Amid endless oceans and mountains that cut through dense fog, lie hidden temples and monuments just waiting to be discovered. Players must uncover the planet’s many mysteries, as the onboard A.I., Gemini, guides them through sunken ruins and ocean depths, whilst pumping the atmospheric synths, arpeggiated basslines, and dreamy vocals of VIRGO’s Water Planet E.P.

Starting life as a visual accompaniment to VIRGO’s energetic and unique live performances, Water Planet has been developed from-the-ground-up with unmistakable visuals inspired by the sounds of VIRGO’s signature Ocean Tech style, amalgamating house, trance and future beats music genres.

Now I had never heard of Virgo before the announcement. The older you get the more you tune out the world of music, but there’s something incredibly harmonic about the sync of these visuals with this music. Water Planet could quietly sneak in under the radar and be something special. Sure it feels like a walking simulator, but if your definition of a video game is a gun that shoots ridiculous amounts of bullets then you’re missing out on an entire world of games with stunning looks or impeccable stories. If were lucky sometimes we get both.

Water Planet will be on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift this summer.
