Disney released the new Mulan live-action trailer on Thursday, as well as an official poster for the film. Rather than doing a shot-for-shot remake of the 1998 animated film, this new adaptation seems to be taking a slightly different approach to the legend of Hua Mulan, including the introduction of a powerful witch played by Gong Li who fights alongside Bori Khan (Jason Scott Lee) and the Hun.

The live-action Mulan is directed by Niki Caro and stars Liu Yifei as the eponymous warrior; the latter stirred up a significant amount of controversy in August when she tweeted her support of the Hong Kong police amid mass protests. Although #BoycottMulan began trending immediately, it seems likely that Disney will have another Box Office smash in its hands when Mulan hits theaters next year.

Along with Yifei, the cast features Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, Yoson An as Chen Honghui, Tzi Ma as Mulan’s father, and Jet Li as the emperor of China.
