Hot of the heels of Hellboy in Hell: Nothing But Blood, the Hellboy Universe has it’s next big title. Thursday, Dark Horse officially unveiled BPRD: Declassified, an all-new miniseries featuring BPRD agents Susan Xiang and Victor Koestler in starring roles. The series will feature Mike Mignola, Chris Roberson, and Mike Norton reteaming for the first time since 2023’s Hellboy and the BPRD: From Below.
“We’ve been teasing around the edges of a larger story involving an occult cold war in the pages of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D. and elsewhere for a while now, usually in the background of another supernatural investigation or monster hunt of some kind,” Roberson offered in a press release. “B.P.R.D.: Declassified is a chance to pull the curtain back a bit and focus our full attention on what’s been going on in the shadows, and to see that the agents of the B.P.R.D. aren’t the only players on the board. The stakes are higher than Susan Xiang and company ever suspected.”

Mignola and Roberson write while Norton draws interiors. Hellboy Universe mainstay Dave Stewart is listed as the colorist on the series. Gabriel Hardman (Green Lantern: Earth One), Christopher Mitten (The Foundry), Craig Rousseau (Young Hellboy), and Michael Avon Oeming (Powers) are set to provide variant covers for the series.
Xiang last appeared in The Shadow of the Golden Crane (2025) from Roberson and Michael Avon Oeming, while Koestler’s claim to fame was his role in The Vistor: How and Why He Stayed.

The synopsis for the series says the duo travels to Hawaii after one Henry Rouch disappeared while working on a classified government project. As the tease reads, “the agents soon discover that there’s much more to this case than meets the eye.
“The best thing about working on a B.P.R.D. story (and Chris’s stories in particular) is that I know there’s going to be something I never even THOUGHT of drawing before,” adds Mike Norton. “And let me tell you, this one does NOT disappoint!”
BPRD: Declassified is due out on the shelves of your local comic store beginning February, 17, 2027.
