Netflix’s Wu Assassins seems to be a fast striking and cool mixture of sci-fi, fantasy, and martial arts as seen in an official series trailer released today. The show will star none other than Iko Uwais – an actor who’s shown to be an exceptional martial artist in projects such as Gareth Evan’s Raid films and The Night Comes for Us, which was distributed by Netflix last year.

According to an official plot synopsis, as featured in an article from Entertainment Weekly:

Wu Assassins follows Kai Jin, a young Chinatown chef in present day San Francisco, as he becomes entangled with the Chinese Triad’s pursuit of deadly ancient powers known as the ‘Wu Xing.’ After an encounter with a mystical spirit, Kai reluctantly becomes the Wu Assassin, using his enhanced martial arts skills to recover supernatural powers from five modern day criminals threatening to use them to destroy the world.”

Uwais will be Kai Jin, the chef transformed into a fighting warrior, but he won’t be the only ass kicker in the cast. Wu Assassins will also feature the talent of Katheryn Winninck (Vikings) and Lewis Tan, who stole the show with his martial arts abilities during his brief appearance in the first season of Netflix’s Iron First.

On Twitter, Tan posted a look at his character Lu Xin Lee, and actress Celia Au posted a full look at the cast.

Wu Assassins debuts on Netflix August 8th, and you can get a preview of the kick ass cast by watching the trailer down below.
