Over the past few years, Dark Horse has published a handful of graphic novel adaptations of writer Neil Gaiman‘s work, from the Rafael Albuquerque and Rafael Scavone-illustrated alt-Sherlock Holmes tale A Study in Emerald to How To Talk To Girls At Parties with brothers Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá. Now the publisher has announced a new hardcover collecting four of those stories into one volume. The Neil Gaiman Library Volume 1 will include the two stories mentioned previously, plus Murder Mysteries, illustrated by P. Craig Russell, and Forbidden Brides of the Faceless Slaves in the Secret House of the Night of Dread Desire, illustrated by Shane Oakley. The collection will feature a new cover by Moon.
Here’s how Dark Horse describes this eclectic mix of stories:
A familiar detective finds himself at the heart of a Lovecraftian nightmare on Baker Street, a strange man delves into the heartbreaking mystery of a divine murder in paradise, teenage boys find that approaching girls can lead to more danger than romance, and a verbose gothic writer finds his true calling amidst family duels and drudgery.
Dark Horse’s library editions are beautifully put-together oversized hardcovers, and given the caliber of the artists on these stories the visuals will surely look spectacular in that format. No word on how many volumes there might ultimately be in this series, but Dark Horse has published quite a few Gaiman-written graphic novels, so it seems likely at least two more will be coming, if not more.
