Indie Spinner Rack and Top Shelf present Awesome 2: Awesomer. The first Awesome was a sterling anthology and the line-up for this one is just as…awesome. A 20 page preview is available here as is a partial list of contributors.

You can’t keep a great indie anthology down! The boys at Indie Spinner Rack have been producing the premiere indie comics podcast for over three years, and in 2007 produced the aptly-titled AWESOME anthology. Now they’re back, along with a few dozen of their friends and favorite guests… who happen to be some of the greatest cartoonists in the industry!

A 208-page 6×9 softcover anthology with bonus mini-comic. $14.95 retail. Once again half the proceeds will go to a student scholarship to the Center for Cartoon Studies.

Cover art by the legendary Jeff Smith (Bone, Rasl).
Back cover art by Roger Langridge (The Muppet Show, Fred the Clown, ACT-i-VATE’s Mugwhump).

Sean Ford and the SUNDAYS crew:

We’re excited to announce that the third volume of the Sundays Anthology will debut at MoCCA Art Fest 2009. Sundays 3 will be something of a different beast than the first two anthologies. Rather than oversized, the book will be three smaller volumes packaged as one. Weighing in at 4″ x 4.75″ x 3 books, Sundays 3 will feature one book edited by Chuck McBuck, one edited by Joseph Lambert and one tag-team edited by Alex Kim and Sean Ford.

Four of the books original editors have returned to work with some new Sundays contributors, including: John Brodowski (Curio Cabinet), Lydia Conklin (Middle of the Ocean), James Hindle (Folded Paper Assembly), Blaise Larmee (I Would Like to Live There), Melissa Mendes (Freddy), and Annie Murphy (I Still Live). The three volumes will feature original work by these exciting and talented cartoonists.

Sundays 3 will debut at MoCCA Art Fest on Saturday June 6. Sundays will be located at table 807, along the back wall. The Sundays table will also have some other new goodies from Alex Kim (Wall City), Joe Lambert (Turtle, Keep It Steady), Chuck McBuck (Snake Oil), Melissa Mendes (Freddy) and Sean Ford (Only Skin). We hope to see you there!

Newbooks
Buenaventura Press will be at tables 318-321.

We will be debuting the long-anticipated The Complete Jack Survives, by Jerry Moriarty and The Gigantic Robot by Tom Gauld (Three Very Small Comics, Hunter and Painter). Advance copies of these books will be available, as will the artists. This is Tom Gauld’s first official US signing, and Jerry Moriarty’s first signing ever (at the age of 72!). Don’t miss out on this rare opportunity to meet these groundbreaking cartoonists.

Charles Burns will be signing his deluxe art portfolio Permagel and his new letterpress artist book Swipe File. If we’re lucky he’ll bring out some rare treasures from his stash to unload and maybe a new issue of Free Shit.

Lisa Hanawalt with her mini comics ( I Want You forthcoming.)

Emelie Östergren and Clara Johansson from Sweden with their books Evil Dress and Mexikansk Gränsö.

We’re bringing along a mess of excellent books, comics, and paraphernalia, including the glorious Kramers Ergot 7, of which our supply is dwindling to the last few hundred copies. Pick yours up at the fest or from our web store! Quite a few Kramers artists will be in attendance at MOCCA if you want to get your copy signed: Adrian Tomine, Seth, Jonathan Bennett, Matthew Thurber, Kim Deitch, Frank Santoro, and Ron Regé, and others.

Mymommy CoverFANFARE/PONENT MON: Booth #626
