Last week Marvel announced the contents of their Avengers-centric gold level Free Comic Book Day offering, and this morning the publisher released details about their silver level book. FCBD Spider-Man/Venom #1 will feature separate tales for the two title characters, both of which will lead into larger stories later in 2019.

While the title was originally announced as simply a Spider-Man book, the inclusion of Venom is a natural choice given that both he and Spidey starred in blockbuster movies within the past year. The lead Spider-Man story, which will feature both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, is written by Tom Taylor (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man) and Saladin Ahmed (Miles Morales: Spider-Man), with art by Cory Smith (Weapon H). The regular Venom creative team of writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman will round out the issue with a new Venom tale.

Silver-level Free Comic Book Day titles are open to order for participating retailers in any quantity, as opposed to the 12 gold-level titles which retailers must order at least 25 of each of in order to participate in FCBD.

Check out the teaser image that Marvel released (the final cover is still under wraps), as well as the full press release on the title, below. Retailer FOC for Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day books is Monday, February 25th, and Free Comic Book Day is Saturday, May 4th.

  1. Those are the issues of the monthly Spider-Man titles that first showed him in his black suit. The only thing they have in common is Spider-Man (and Curt Connors) returning to Earth fro Secret Wars. ASM and MTU start in the same place and go in different directions, while TAC 90 is a Black Cat story that only features Spider-Man on the last page. So… are we to infer something else came through the portal? Are we to infer it’s more symbiotes? Or… this is it. The random background guy who Spider-Man asked to let Connors drink out of his thermos in ASM 252 and got interviewed on the news about it in MTU 141 is finally getting his own book!
