North American manga publisher Manga Mavericks has announced an English translation of the three-volume adult romance series Tie Me Up, Stare Me Down by Zawayuki Taki, published in Japan by Shinchosha. The English version will be released as a complete omnibus in May 2027, both digitally and in print.
Tie Me Up, Stare Me Down follows Sawada, whose day job running the sales and marketing job of a chain grocery store has significantly diminished his spirit. When he stumbles across a fetish bar one night after work, he’s introduced to a whole new world by the dominatrix Nana.
Here’s the full synopsis:
To be free, you must first be tied down and stare into your captor’s eyes…
Sawada finds himself crushed by the responsibilities and expectations that come with being in charge of the sales and marketing department of a grocery store chain. One night, when looking for a place to drink and relax, he spots a sign for a “Fetish Bar.” Upon opening the doors to this bar, he’s greeted by the sight of women in bondage! When Nana, the queen of the bar, gives him “special” care, Sawada experiences a sense of liberation and pleasure he never thought possible.
The world of dominating and being dominated unfurls at the sound of a whip and the sensation of a rope tightening.

“I’m delighted that the day has come for us to announce an English version of Tie Me Up, Stare Me Down,” said Taki. “For a long time now, I’ve wanted this work to reach overseas audiences. When the serialization ended in Japan, I received a great amount of support from publishers and translators who expressed, ‘We really want to read this in English.’
“And now that wish is finally coming true. I’d like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who labored to make this happen,” he continued. “Although the themes of this series are bondage and BDSM, I drew it to depict the importance of emotional connections between people. It would bring me immense joy if this work could be a safe place, or even a friend, for readers. And of course, I hope this work will be a precious addition to your bookshelves as well.”
Tie Me Up, Stare Me Down will be available everywhere books are sold on May 25, 2027. Pre-orders are available now via the Manga Mavericks store.
