Lore Olympus was originally released online, having first premiered on Webtoon Originals three years ago, and has since been nominated for an Eisner (and if you’re interested to read it yourself, you can still read the series online for free).
The comic is something of a modernization of the Classical story, with the realm of the gods looking a lot like our world and the realm of the mortals reflecting the historical setting of the stories.
Lore Olympus is filled with high-profile house parties, scandalous romance, and more malignant machinations than you can shake a myth at. Featuring arresting art that practically pops off the page and charismatic, (sometimes) relatable versions of the iconic characters, you can bet that this collection will be something to behold.
And lest you think otherwise, this is far from the last time you’ll be hearing about Smythe’s take on Persephone’s story: there’s also an animated adaptation forthcoming thanks to a partnership between Webtoon and the Jim Henson Company.
You can currently preorder volume one of the collected Lore Olympus through the official website. The first volume of the collection will collect episodes one through twenty-five of the webcomic, along with an exclusive incentivizing short story.
