In December Archie Comics announced that Image co-founder and ‘90s icon Rob Liefeld would do a special revamp of the company’s classic superhero line, with preview art shown featuring The Shield. Three months later more details and variant covers have been revealed to the world how dead serious they are about getting that Rob Liefeld touch.
The first salvo (of four) will be The Mighty Crusaders: The Shield #1 this June. It will be written by Rob Liefeld, with the art by Liefeld and Jack Morelli. The Shield one shot will also have seven variant covers, with some drawn by Liefeld and others by a raft of guest artists: Francesco Francavilla, Aaron Lopresti, David Mack and Jerry Ordway. No story info yet but you know what to expect from the distinguished Rob Liefeld.
You can preorder The Mighty Crusaders: The Shield #1 from all good comic shops or direct from the Archie Comics website.
Presumably later one shots will give a Liefeldian take on The Comet, The Fly/Fly-Man and the Black Hood at a later date.
Archie Comics, before it was called Archie Comics, used to publish superheroes. In Pep Comics, an early anthology title of Archie precursor MLJ Magazines, they introduced the Shield – the first American patriotic, costumed character (preceding Captain America by over a year). The company introduced a number of other superhero characters across the 1940s and 1950s in the Golden Age era – these included the Fly/Fly-Man, the Comet, and the Black Hood.
The superteam known as The Mighty Crusaders first appeared in Fly-Man #31 (May 1965). A short-lived Mighty Crusaders spin-off comic was published later that year, written by Jerry Siegel – yes, that Jerry Siegel – and drawn by Paul Reinman and Mike Sekowsky. It lasted seven issues.

How can he be an artist for over 30 years and still draw like that.
to answer Arfy: hundreds of fans and critics always ask this about Liefeld when the answer is very, very simple.
…Because: Comicsbeat keeps covering him. Fans keep buying his work. Film Studios keep optioning his “creations”. Professionals like Ed Piskor keep singing his praises.
Why would he need to draw any different?
