On the heels of their inclusion in the multi-publisher crossover event Epiphany Engine finally releasing, Black-owned independent publisher Konkret Comics is ready for a big weekend as the company prepares to showcase what’s next for its growing comic book universe. From the return of its flagship superhero to new publishing opportunities for independent creators, they are keeping it Konkret as they give us a taste of what’s in store for 2027 at K-Way Weekend 2026, taking place October 16th-18th.

Founded by Derek “Lonzo Starr” Allen, the award-winning publisher has continued to expand its reach beyond just traditional comic characters on the page with multimedia collaborations and community initiatives. Now, the publisher is bringing fans together for a three-day digital event streamed live on its official YouTube channel, featuring announcements about upcoming projects, returning titles, and plans for 2027 and beyond.

One of the biggest highlights of the weekend will be the return of Akolyte, the superhero who was first created in 2017 and helped lay the foundation for Konkret Comics’ shared universe. While specific details about the character’s next chapter have not yet been released, fans can expect to leave the event knowing what the future holds for Konkret’s flagship hero.

Konkret has also been making moves beyond just the panels and pages. The publisher’s work has connections to the Apple TV series Mythic Quest and the YouTube series The Comic Shop, both of which will be highlighted during K-Way Weekend. These projects are part of the company’s growing involvement in multimedia entertainment, as it looks to bring its characters and creative vision to a wider audience. Those expansion plans continue even further with a partnership with Morpheus Vision Studios, where they are currently developing the first live-action film featuring one of the publisher’s superheroes.

Konkret’s K-Way Weekend will also focus on bringing new opportunities to comic creators. Their new publishing initiative, Konkret Dimensionz, is focused on creator-owned stories and new perspectives that go beyond the traditional superheroes the publisher has been known for up until this point. With submissions opening up for prospective publishing partners, aspiring writers, and artists, storytellers will have an opportunity to learn more about joining the Konkret family.

Konkret will also be highlighting some of its community-focused initiatives. Among them are Liberty Knights, a voter engagement and registration project that has distributed more than 130,000 units, and K-Way High, a collaboration focused on mental health awareness.

With a growing catalog of superheroes, science fiction, horror, and adventure stories, Konkret Comics is looking to build on their existing foundation while creating new opportunities for the next generation of comic book creators.

K-Way Weekend 2026 runs October 16-18, with all three days streaming live on the Konkret Comics YouTube channel. For additional announcements and updates, fans can visit KonkretComics.com or follow @KonkretComics on social media.
