Last April, it was announced that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will voice Superman’s best friend, Krypto the Superdog, in the upcoming animated film DC’s League of Super-Pets. Directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, from a script by Stern, the feature is set for a theatrical release on May 20, 2022. Today, in a video announcement via Johnson’s Twitter, more of the voice cast were revealed, most notably perennial Johnson co-star Kevin Hart as Batman’s canine sidekick Ace the Bat-Hound.

In addition to Kevin Hart, other actors revealed include Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, John Krasinski, Diego Luna, Natasha Lyonne, and Keanu Reeves although their roles in the film were not disclosed.

With Johnson also starring as the titular antihero and erstwhile Shazam villain for the Black Adam film, slated for a July 29, 2022 release, it’s shaping up to be a DC-heavy year for the action star.

Kevin Hart

First appearing in Pre-Crisis continuity as a German Shepherd in Batman #92, Ace was once regarded as one of the more ridiculous aspects of Silver Age Batman stories, though he has since become a beloved fan favorite. Typically depicted now as a Great Dane, Ace has appeared in numerous DC animated media over the years. It will be curious whether or not the film opts for the Pre-Crisis German Shepherd breed or Great Dane.

We’ll have to see what other Super-Pets will be appearing in the film. I for one would flip if Jumpa, Wonder Woman’s Sky Kanga actually makes it in the film!
