According to slashfilm, Katee Sackhoff will appear in The Mandalorian season two as Bo-Katan Kryze.

Sackhoff previously played the role of Bo-Katan in both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, where the character’s storyline intersected with the Darksaber.

The Darksaber is a unique lightsaber with a distinctive black blade. First introduced in The Clone Wars, the Darksaber was constructed by the first Mandalorian to enter into the Jedi Order. While Mandalorian warriors eventually infiltrate the Jedi Temple and liberate the Darksaber, it once again falls out of Mandalorian control during the Clone Wars, when it is seized and wielded by Maul.

In Star Wars Rebels, which takes place just before the events of A New Hope, Ezra Bridger takes the Darksaber from Maul on Dathomir, returning it Mandalorian control by handing it over to Sabine Wren, who eventually gives it to Bo-Katan.

As viewers of the first season of The Mandalorian will recall, the Darksaber was seen in the clutches of the villainous Moff Gideon at the conclusion of the season finale, giving some hint as to how Bo-Katan might fit into the narrative for the show’s sophomore year.

The news that Sackhoff will be returning as Bo-Katan is part of a spate of recent casting revelations for the second season of the live action Disney+ series. Last week, Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Temuera Morrison would be returning to Star Wars as the titular Boba Fett. And last month, slashfilm reported that Rosario Dawson would be appearing as fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano.

While season two of The Mandalorian isn’t scheduled to appear on Disney+ until October, you can watch the first two episodes of the Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian documentary series right now, along with the complete run of both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.
