Here’s the general gist before you commit your time:
The short takes place one year after the events of the last Jurassic World film in Big Rock National Park, where dinosaurs are now living in our world. The story follows a family of four whose encounter with these wild animals becomes a terrifying fight for survival.
Starring Andre Holland, Natalie Martinez, Melody Hurd, and Pierson Salvador as the above mentioned family of four (Andre Holland? I’m there already!), this is Trevorrow’s attempt to capture one of the more enticing elements of the concept left behind by Fallen Kingdom, namely one of the “random disconnected incidents that would create a pattern of chaos” as the director explained in a previous interview.
After coming off a huge initial entry in this relaunched franchise, Fallen Kingdom was besieged with pretty bad critical response and a good deal more audience apathy. Can Trevorrow’s return restore some faith in the series? This is particularly of note given his acrimonious exit from the then untitled Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker. It’s a film that could be a bit of a comeback story, in a way. And here’s the first salvo, in all its glory, I’ll let you be the judge:
The third Jurassic World hits theaters in 2021.
