Today, the Wall Street Journal broke the news that Joe Manganiello of Spider-ManTrue Blood, and Magic Mike fame is slated to play Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s upcoming Batman film.  According to The Wrap, Deathstroke is slated as the main villain for the movie.

On August 29th, Ben Affleck posted a cryptic teaser showcasing Deathstroke leering at the camera in full costume, prompting wild speculation as to who would play the part.

The news was confirmed by DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.  He declined to comment about the possibility of a Deathstroke cameo in the upcoming Justice League movie which is currently filming.

We are not yet certain exactly how Deathstroke will come into conflict with the Dark Knight, but we can rest assured that the fight scenes will be intense. Both Wilson and Bruce Wayne are known for their skills as tacticians so perhaps we could see a fight scene similar to the ones that played out between Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty in the recent Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Alternatively we might just get Magic Mike XXL. Many of our readers probably wouldn’t complain about that. After all, Manganiello is really more ab than man.

  1. It will be interesting to see how they distinguish Deathstroke from the already-established-in-Suicide-Squad Deadshot. It’s also doubtful that this is the main villain of the story, but who would he be working for? They surely won’t do Ra’s al Ghul.
