Iron Man 2020 has officially arrived, and Arno Stark is at war with artificial intelligence. That puts Riri Williams and N.A.T.A.L.I.E. in deep trouble — and writers Vita Ayala and Danny Lore, alongside artist David Messina, are set to explore how the pair cope in the two-issue Ironheart 2020 series debuting in May.

In an exclusive reveal from Women Write About Comics published Wednesday, Ayala said, “Being able to write a character that I have loved is an incredible feeling. Riri is such a beautiful, complex, funny and intelligent kid, and honestly I was afraid I wouldn’t do her justice! Luckily I had a partner writing this one, who understands and loves the character as much as I do.”

Lore said, “Riri Williams is the sort of character that made an immediate impression — on me and the world at large. As a writer who also gets to work in comics retail, I’ve seen young girls light up to see someone like them in the iron suit. Being able to add to that canon is beyond amazing! And to top it off — I get to tell this story with my best friend and favorite writing partner! We jumped at the opportunity to be part of 2020, and can’t wait to show you what we have in store!”

Ironheart 2020 #1 will feature a cover by Skan and is slated to hit your local comic shop in May, with the second issue hitting shelves in June. For more, visit marvel.com.
