May’s edition of Inside Xbox debuted a host of new third-party titles, showing off in-engine footage of games running on the high-powered Xbox Series X, Microsoft’s new console arriving this fall. Thirteen games were shown in total, ten of which were confirmed to have Smart Delivery, which means that if you buy it for Xbox One you will also be able to play it on Xbox Series X (or vice versa).

Though the event spotlighted a wide variety of games and genres, it didn’t include any huge announcements. The most noteworthy was probably the reveal that a new game in the Yakuza franchise, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, will be an Xbox Series X launch title. Most of the new games revealed were from lesser-known developers. Some looked very impressive, but it’s hard to make a judgment on their quality based on only a few seconds of footage. Nevertheless, the event presented an opportunity for Microsoft to showcase the high-resolution graphics and highlight the fast load times of its next-generation console.

The video event also included new footage from Madden 21 and the recently-announced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Considering the emphasis on Assassin’s Creed in the marketing of the presentation, however, fans were surprised how little new information was revealed. Most of the content was similar or identical to what Ubisoft shared when it debuted the game’s first trailer.
