Amazon is currently offering the “DC SDCC Sale.”

This is a very deep and wide ranging sale to dig through, so here are a few tips for items that might be of interest.  I’ll skip the New 52 comics because while DC seems to think you still have a burning desire for New 52, I’m fully aware how often you’ve seen those on sale.  Note: some of the recent single issues like Superman #1 and Batman #50 do not appear to be discounted.  Don’t be fooled!

A good example of something we haven’t seen in awhile is Jonah Hex.  Pre-New 52, Jimmy Palmiotti & Justin Gray had a good long run on this hardboiled western with rotating cast of all-star artists.  (Seriously, the quality artists that cycled through this title is insane.)

While the Sandman universe is getting a new run at Vertigo, Gaiman’s original Sandman series is on sale.

Sean Murphy’s been doing the very popular Batman: White Knight.  Have you seen his earlier solo offering, Punk Rock Jesus?

Fables, by Bill Willingham and (primarily) Mark Buckingham had a long and satisfying run… and it’s all on sale.  (Ignore the “deluxe editions.)

Speaking of long and satisfying runs, New Teen Titans by Marv Wolfman and George Perez was one of the title that revitalized DC in the early 80s.  (Ignore that first Judas Contract link – great story, but that’s a standalone volume outside the full series reprint line.)

And perhaps the original incarnation of the Suicide Squad as villains co-opted by the government.

If you’re looking for value, the first volumes of these Silver Age collections are some of your better high page count material at $4.99 each.  Subsequent volumes are on sale, but the price isn’t as attractive:

It’s very large sale, so go ahead and have a browse for yourself.
