DC Entertainment has released a first look photo of Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor. Cryer will portray Superman’s arch-nemesis on The CW’s Supergirl series. Take a look:
The photo features a bald, bearded Cryer giving his best menacing look from within a prison cell. Here’s how DC describes Lex’s first appearance:
Look for Cryer to make his debut in Supergirl’s 15th episode this season, entitled “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” on Sunday, March 17. In it, Lex Luthor reaches out from prison to enlist Lena (Katie McGrath) into one of his plans and will stop at nothing to get her on board, even if that means leveraging the life of one of her friends.
DC goes on to tease a possible alliance between Lex and the big bad of the current Supergirl season, Agent Liberty, an anti-alien extremist/terrorist played by Sam Witwer.
If anyone was worried the new TV Lex Luthor wouldn’t feature the villain’s signature bald head, they should be put at ease by this photo. Cryer’s Lex will be the first live-action version of the character to sport a beard; Lex was briefly bearded in the comics while running around in a cloned body in disguise as his own Australian son (the ’90s were a crazy time for everyone).
Supergirl airs Sundays at 8PM Eastern on The CW.
