Harley Quinn’s future state adventures are over, and next month sees the debut of a new Harley Quinn ongoing series from writer Stephanie Phillips and artists Riley Rossmo and Ivan Plascencia. Today DC Comics has provided The Beat with an exclusive cover reveal for both the main and variant covers for May’s Harley Quinn #3. The issue continues the series’ first arc pitting Harley against fellow psychiatrist and longtime Bat-foe Hugo Strange.
In an interview with The Beat last month, Phillips described Strange as “a perfect foe” for the new series, joking that “I guess I have a thing for dysfunctional psychiatrists.” The match-up of Strange and Harley is a natural fit given their shared professional background, and it’s kind of surprising that it’s never been done before now.
Check out the covers for Harley Quinn #3 from Rossmo and Derrick Chew below. The issue is scheduled to arrive in stores and digitally on Tuesday, May 25th.
“Harley Quinn here, still narrating my solicit text! My war of wellness with Hugo Strange kicks into high gear this issue, and things are gonna get ugly. Hugo is about to send his right-hand man-child Lockwood, Arkham Asylum’s most sadistic guard, after Kevin and me at our first support group meeting. Folks, some things in this world are sacred, and I am not gonna stand for this. Hugo Strange never picked a fight with someone like me before, and he’s not going to like the results. Buy this issue, and pick up our gorgeous variant cover—it’s a real gem!”
