There’s a new girl in town. The official Glow Twitter page announced on Monday that Academy award winner Geena Davis (Grey’s Anatomy, Commander in Chief) is set to appear in the upcoming third season. She’ll join stars Allison Brie and Betty Gilpin as the squad’s new boss and entertainment director in  in five out of its next ten episodes.
When we last saw the Glow cast, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling squad was on its way to Las Vegas, following the cancellation of its female wrestling show. It’s there, at the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, that the cast runs into Davis’ character, Sandy Devereaux St. Clair. According to the season 3 description, it doesn’t take long for conflict to set in. The women realize Vegas isn’t nearly as glam as they thought it would be as Ruth’s optimism for the show is swamped by a web of personal issues and Debbie’s guilt begins affecting her performance as producer. The rest of the cast, meanwhile, struggles to maintain a differentiation between performance and reality which leads to a loss of identity.
The Glow reveal video for Geena Davis’ appearance is, happily, much more upbeat! Check it out below, along with a first look at Davis in-character. Season 3 of Glow drops on Netflix on August 9.
