The shortlist for the Cartoonist Studio Prize was revealed this morning and the selection of webcomics is quite interesting. Of note, was this short comic by Summer Pierre for the New Yorker that came out in December. Pierre reads the letters of Sylvia Plath and gains some thorough understanding of her life. It’s an interesting look at the mythic life of Sylvia Plath, from a relatively happy time in her life, all the way to the week before her suicide. It’s a thoughtful portrait of a complicated author and Summer Pierre’s style is perfect to convey this story.
You can read Summer Pierre’s Sylvia Plath’s Last Plans over at The New Yorker
