Titan Comics will be publishing a new comic series set between two of V. E. Schwab’s Villains novels, Vicious (2013) and Vengeful (2018), beginning with ExtraOrdinary #0 on May 5th, 2021, by Schwab, Enid Balám, Jordi Escuin, and Leonardo Olea.

Vicious (2013), a novel by V. E. Schwab.

ExtraOrdinary #0’s release in May will be followed by a four-part ExtraOrdinary series, which will follow Eli Ever, the antagonist of Schwab’s original story. According to the press release from Titan Comics, which you can read under the preview pages below, the comic series will also introduce a whole cast of new characters.

One of those new characters is Charlotte Tills. ExtraOrdinary #0 begins when Tills survives a bus crash and discovers that she has become “EO” – that’s ExtraOrdinary. Her newfound ability gives her visions of a person’s deaths before it comes to pass.

Vengeful (2018), a novel by V. E. Schwab.

However, things quickly become more complicated when Tills witnesses her own death… at the hands of the notorious EO-killer, Eli Ever! Is it possible that Tills may be able to change her fate, or is she doomed to be dispatched?

As Schwab stated in the press release, the series emerged from the notion that if the average person had suddenly been granted superpowers, they wouldn’t necessarily immediately become a heroic figure. This makes a lot of sense, since we’ve all seen how people with very little responsibility nevertheless manage to botch things up, haven’t we?

Will you be heading to your local comic shop to pick up ExtraOrdinary #0 when it is released on May 5th, 2021 (hey – at $1, you can hardly beat the price)? Are you a fan of Vicious and Vengeful? What would you do if you suddenly gained superpowers? Let The Beat know in the comment section and on social media @comicsbeat!

E. SCHWAB’S NEW EXTRAORDINARY

COMIC SERIES EXPANDS ON HER BESTSELLING VILLAINS NOVELS!

TITAN’S SPECIAL ISSUE #0 COMIC LAUNCHES NEW ANTI-VILLAIN, SUPERHERO SERIES SET IN THE YEARS BETWEEN SCHWAB’S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED VICIOUS AND VENGEFUL NOVELS.

London, February 16, 2021 – Titan Comics is thrilled to reveal the cover and artwork for New York Times Bestselling author V. E. Schwab’s brand-new comic book series ExtraOrdinary. This exciting new title will delve deeper into the story of Schwab’s critically acclaimed Villains novels and will launch May 2021 with a special issue #0 that leads into the new four-part series.

This new story is set in the years between the VICIOUS (2013) and VENGEFUL (2018) novels and will feature Eli Ever, the villain/antagonist of the original story. A whole host of new comic characters will also be introduced into this epic series.

“ExtraOrdinary” introduces Charlotte Tills, a headstrong teenager who survives a bus crash and becomes EO–ExtraOrdinary, gaining the ability to see people’s deaths before they occur. But when she looks into her own future and witnesses a murder by notorious EO-killer Eli Ever, Charlotte works to piece together the mystery of her visions and sets off to find–and change–her future–before it comes for her.

Asked about her inspiration for the upcoming series, Schwab revealed that “the books grew out of the idea that if you took a real person–with all their shortcomings, and self-interests– and gave them superpowers, they would not suddenly become heroes. If anything, they’d probably become villains.”

Working alongside Schwab in bringing this new comic series to life will be artist Enid Balám (OMNI, Someday Comes Paradise), who created a spectacular cover for the special #0 debut comic.

Extraordinary #0 will hit stores and digital devices on May 5, 2021. Fans will be able to pre-order in the US from their local comic shop, in the UK/Europe from Forbidden Planet, and digitally.
