V.E. Schwab, Christopher Paolini, Cory Doctorow and Brandon Sanderson all have new books being released this fall, and the Tor editorial team was on-hand to enthusiastically shill for them and many others during the Tor publishing panel, Calling All Book Lovers: A Sneak Peek at New Books from Tor, Tor Teen and Tor.com Publishing. The list of forthcoming books was long, glorious, and magical. Editors also offered a sneak peek at some of the titles earmarked for 2021.

The book that received some of the biggest buzz at Tor’s publishing panel was Schwab’s The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (October 6, 2020). Nearly a decade in the making, the book tells the story of Addie, a girl who makes a deal with the devil and whose life changes after she meets a boy in a bookstore. Editors likened the book as a classic in the vein of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods

Another title getting additional love from the panel was P. Djeli Clark’s Ring Shout (October 13, 2020). According to senior marketing director Renata Sweeney:

“The darkest thoughts from the darkest heart of America are made physical as the Klan’s plots to unleash hell on Earth. Enter Maryse, bootleg whiskey runner and her magic sword, fighting monsters called Ku Kluxes. Along with foul-mouthed, sharpshooter and a Harlem hellfighter, Maryse must save the world from the hate that would consume it.”
