Silver Sprocket is an SF-based indie comics publisher with a growing presence. In addition to putting out comics–most notably the Ignatz winning Eisner Nominated Your Black FRiend by Ben Passmore – they also put out records, put out webcomics and run a storefront on Haight Street “until their they find a real tenant.” They’re self described as “an art crew, comic and zine publisher, record label, and collection of budz making things while being self-sustained disasters out of a bedroom and basement in San Francisco.”
Functioning as a very up-to-date arts collective, they’ve just announced their 2018 Spring/Summer line-up and it includes 12 projects from some notable creators, including Carolyn Nowack (Lumberjanes), Tom Neely (Image Comics’ The Humans), Ben Passmore (Your Black Friend), Rachel Dukes (Steven Universe) and more.
It’s a fresh line-up of work with an emphasis on humor and social commentary – Jen Woodall’s Girls is a timely look at harassment – including an expanded hardcover version of Your Black Friend and Passmore’s new book.

UNFINISHED by Tom Neely
A book of experimental “poetry as comics” by Los Angeles based artist Tom Neely. Best known for the cult-hit slash-fiction comics Henry & Glenn Forever (Microcosm Publishing) and the riotous ape-biker-gang comic book series The Humans (Image Comics), Neely began these small drawings and paintings in 2010 as an experiment in creating abstract one panel gag comic strips. The ideas of these poems sprang out of conversations about Art with Neely’s best friend and fellow cartoonist Dylan Williams (Sparkplug Comic Books) who passed away in 2011. Unfinished will hit store shelves in May 2018.
