Z2 Comics has carved out a unique niche for itself among the comics world, with graphic novels by and about musicians, often accompanied by new music. From Charlie Parker to Blondie to Machine Gun Kelly, the publisher’s offerings have spanned generations and genres. Their latest release, This Is Where We Fall, arrives next month. The sci-fi graphic novel follows an astronaut who, after a disaster aboard the International Space Station, crash-lands on an Earth he doesn’t recognize. Written by Chris Miskiewicz and illustrated by Vincent Kings, the book is accompanied by a soundtrack of new music by Mitski.

Here’s how the publisher describes This Is Where We Fall:

Dealing heavily with the concept of theology, death, and the after-life, This is Where We Fall is an innovative new science-fiction series brought to you by Chris Miskiewicz (Thomas Alsop, Grateful Dead Origins) and Vincent Kings (Wynter) that delves into complex questions on science, faith, mankind’s need to believe in something bigger than itself, while also questioning what defines the human spirit.

As with a majority of Z2 releases, This Is Where We Fall will be available in three editions — a softcover, a hardcover that includes the soundtrack by Mitski on cassette, and a deluxe edition, limited to 2,000 copies, that includes an oversized hardcover of the graphic novel, a slipcase for the hardcover, and the Mitski soundtrack on vinyl.
