“After learning about Penelope’s escape from the Bronx Zoo, I wanted to give her an adventure tale fit for a heroine,” said Irwin in a statement for The Beat. “This book is filled with oddball creatures, impossible trials, and one very determined platypus. I hope readers have as much fun getting to know Penelope as I did imagining her journey.”
“I’m thrilled to have illustrated this comic book written by Arianna Irwin, because it represents a sensitive and powerful way to introduce readers to important issues,” said artist Prenzy. “I hope that Penelope’s Escape From the Platypusary will resonate with readers and encourage awareness and compassion around the treatment of animals.”
Penelope’s Escape from the Platypusary will be available wherever books are sold in paperback (ISBN 978-1-5458-2-6911) and hardcover (ISBN 978-1-5458-3-6040) on July 21. Pre-orders are available now.
