In the upcoming Fireborn #2, set in the Lost Fantasy universe co-created by writer Curt Pires and artist Luca Casalanguida, a backup story starring main series antagonist Edge will make its debut. Today, The Beat can reveal an exclusive preview from the first installment, illustrated by Casalanguida and written by Timmy Heague.

Fireborn is co-written by Lost Fantasy co-creator Pires and Franklin Jonas, illustrated by Patrick Mulholland, colored by Mark Dale, and lettered by Micah Myers. The second issue picks up right where the debut issue, which hit shelves in April, left off.

Meanwhile, the backup story, simply entitled “Edge,” marks the villain’s first solo adventure.

“Edge is the villainous brother of Lost Fantasy’s protagonist Henry Blackheart and we are so excited to explore his origins and motivations through these series of back-ups in Fireborn,” said Heague. “This character is Kylo-Ren meets Eddie Brock Venom and is so fun to write. Luca truly brings this evil dude to life in the most epic way possible. In the debut issue of Fireborn, Edge’s presence is there, foreshadowing his evil plans will involve Fireborn. To feature Edge in the back up Fireborn after that first issue was the natural call to make.

“Edge first appeared in Lost Fantasy #5 and has been a fan-favorite since,” Heague continued. “Helping grow this universe with Curt and Luca is a real honor and I can’t wait to see how readers react to what we’re building.”

Fireborn #2 will be available digitally and at your local comic shop on May 27. Pre-orders are available now.
