A parallel narrative to an existing story can be very interesting. Done well, the new narrative can enhance the original by providing a fresh perspective on familiar events, and by giving additional depth to characters who may not have been previously fully fleshed-out. Avatar: Tsu’tey’s Path is a miniseries that sets out to do just that, shifting the focus of the events from the 2009 Avatar film from the human Jake Sully to the Na’vi Tsu’tey. Through Tsu’tey’s eyes, readers get to experience the events of the movie from a new vantage point, and gain more of an understanding of just what the Na’vi are fighting to protect, even as the human forces draw ever closer.
Check out this four-page preview, exclusive to The Beat, of Avatar: Tsu’tey’s Path #5 from Dark Horse Comics. The penultimate issue of the series goes on sale next Wednesday, June 26th.
