  1. When we talk about dwindling comics readers, covers like this pop in my mind.

I have a hard time taking my kids to a comic shop these days because I have to shy them away from entire sections that gratuitously display violence, blood, guts, brains, T&A, or outright objectification of women.

I’m not judging people that want those books. God bless the variety and free choice.

But how do we expect to build up readers if all we do is cater to aging white males and make uncomfortable experiences for kids, women, and families? No wonder kids get their books from bookstores or Scholastic School Fairs.

On a related note, shop owners should educate their staff on family friendly policies. I like rap music but when I go into a shop blasting explicit lyrics with my kids, it’s a turn off as a parent. I guess if that’s the vibe the LCS is going for … ok. But I think the vibe would be more profitable if it was family oriented.

    Thoughts welcome.
