Following a very successful show and an enthusiastic reception from Midwest retailers, Diamond Comics’ annual retailer summit is returning to Chicago and C2E2 in 2018, it was just announced. The event will be held April 4-6, 2018 in Chicago, IL. C2E2 will take place April 6-8 at McCormick Place.
It’s a big coup for ReepPOP and the often overlooked C2E2; holding the summit there this year brought back many publishers, including DC, IDW, and many more, who hadn’t exhibited or attended in years. Industry insiders The Beat spoke with noted that the show had grown quite a bit from somewhat underwhelming early years.
“Chicago and C2E2 were the perfect venue for this year’s Summit,” said Dan Manser, Diamond’s Director of Marketing in a statement. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with ReedPOP to deliver a stellar experience for comic shop owners during 2018’s Retailer Summit ahead of C2E2 in Chicago.”
ReedPop’s Event Director Mike Armstrong was equally enthusiastic. “The Diamond Retailer Summit was an excellent way to kick off C2E2 in 2017 and we’re thrilled that it will be returning to Chicago in 2018. The content delivered through the Summit and the community of retailers descending on C2E2 made the show that much better and we’re looking forward to what’s to come in 2018.”
Will all this enthusiasm put C2E2 permanently on the schedule for publishers? That’s less likely, but the Artist Alley was definitely huge, so that’s a big plus.

Still amazes me how Diamond continues to ignore all of the retailers in the southern states. I would love it to be in a place (maybe Atlanta which is a airline hub) that wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to go to for us.
