Dead Body RoadDead Body Road will return in May with a new miniseries from publisher Image/Skybound, continuing the series story with Dead Body Road: Bad Blood #1.

The creative team on the book will be writer Justin Jordan, new artist Benjamin Tiesma, colorist Mat Lopes, and letter Pat Brosseau. The book is due out May 20, and it will continue the story started with the original Dead Body Road miniseries, which concluded in May 2014. That book was illustrated by artist Matteo Scalera.

This new book finds protagonist Bree Hale having left a lot behind in her life, namely crime and the military. It’s a classic starting fresh and running from your problems scenario, but Bree can’t run from her family. So, when a crime boss puts a hit on her brother, she gets dragged into another crime adventure comic book story.

Marketing material from the publisher describes the book as John Wick meets Southern Bastards. Those kind of descriptions are always sort of reductive, but that’s an exciting hybrid of properties, to be sure.

A PR quote from Jordan is below, followed by some pages from the book. Enjoy!

“Well, it’s been a couple years, but I am back to crime….writing,” said Jordan. “Crime writing. This is another story about revenge, but this time from the point of view of the person trying to stop someone else from getting it. But should she? Dead Body Road is back.”
