In an effort to lay official groundwork for WB’s The Flash (2022) film that is scheduled for filming next year, the folks at DC Fandome set aside a ten-minute panel with director Andy Muschietti (It, It Chapter Two), producer Barbara Muschietti, screenwriter Christina Hodson (Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, Bumblebee) and actor Ezra Miller (Justice League, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) to reveal concept art and behind-the-scenes images.

The concept artwork revealed the new suit for Miller’s scarlet speedster, as well as what appears to be a team-up with Michael Keaton‘s Batman:

Miller said The Flash feature film will open the doorway to Flashpoint in the comicsverse, allowing all the DC story arcs on screen to collide. Hodson confirmed this will be an origin story and that it kickstarts the DC cinematic multiverse. She also revealed sneaking out Andy’s doodles of the Speedforce that is “unlike you have ever seen before.”

The Flash will be the first-ever feature film with the Scarlet Speedster in a titular role played by Miller. He previously starred in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Justice League (2017) and the most exciting, a Crisis on Infinite Earths cameo that saw Miller meet Grant Gustin‘s TV Flash. At the Fandome’s previous panel ‘Multiverse 101,’ producer Walter Hamada (Aquaman, Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey) said HBO Max is helping creators meet in the middle. He added, “It’s really the beginning of everything we are doing here. [HBO Max] will be our little clubhouse.”

The 2022 movie will feature characters from the multiverse, one of which has been recently disrupting Twitter threads is the casting of Keaton and Ben Affleck in their iconic Batsuits. With these latest reveals, the DCEU is now infinite and probably unbeatable.
