After DC FanDome, the 24-hour immersive virtual fan experience, was a rousing success last year that left WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar giddy and with San Diego Comic-Con once again on hold until 2022, it comes as no surprise that DC FanDome online fan event is returning this year.

Whereas last year took place over two separate weekends in August and September, it looks like DC FanDome is set for October 16 rather than the summer. It’s safe to say that they worked all the kinks out this time around and so will be sticking to just one weekend rather than splitting it up again. Moreover, it’s two weeks after New York Comic Con is meant to host its first live convention at the Javitz Center. It will be interesting to see what kind of presence DC Comics and Warner Bros. have at NYCC this year or if it will forgo NYCC in order to put their efforts into FanDome. While we’re all looking forward to the return of conventions and it seems like a healthy percentage of the country will be vaccinated by October, the jury is still out whether or not enough people will be comfortable to attend NYCC.

Last year’s FanDome saw massive reveals that set social media ablaze including announcements and trailers for The Batman, The Suicide Squad, Black Adam, and much more. It also upped the ante for virtual events with snappy backgrounds, people standing up and in general breaking out of the Zoom box format. Reportedly, WB’s entire live marketing budget went into making the 2020 Fandome a success, so no surprise there.

Start your speculation on what’s going to be showcased for DC Fandome 2.0 and watch the announcement video below.

With its first looks at some of DC’s biggest new movies, games, shows and comics, DC FanDome set the world ablaze, garnering over 22 million views across 220 countries and territories. It was a true global phenomenon, allowing fans to get up close and personal with the people behind the characters and worlds that they love. And on October 16, 2021, it’s back for more…
