Darkwing Duck Kickstarter

Darkly Dawns the Duck collects the Darkwing Duck 4 issue 1991 series that Walt Disney Productions released and Marvel Comics’ stories in Disney Afternoon #1-10 in 1991. The collection will contain 14 comics.

Cowl & Fowl collects Amanda Deibert and Carlo Lauro‘s adventure series, published by Dynamite Entertainment the previous year. This collection will contain all 10 issues and new extras plus a huge cover gallery.

Heroes and Villains collects the two spinoff series The Justice Ducks, written by Roger Langridge and illustrated by Carlo Lauro, and Negaduck, written by Jeff Parker and illustrated by Ciro Cangialosi. This collection contains 13 comics and a huge cover gallery.

The campaign has been incredibly successful with over 2,000 backers as of this article’s writing and has reached close to $300,000. Its original goal was $25,000.

Stones recently sat for an interview with The Beat and explained why he thought Darkwing Duck still held so much pull for fans even after so many years where it debuted as a television series in 1991. “When I was first invited to guest at conventions, I was surprised to have some fans get emotional over the bond between Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck and Gosalyn. Some had difficult childhoods and that relationship was an emotional anchor for them,” he said. “Plus there’s the general pull of nostalgia for what people loved in their youth.”

The paperback edition costs $45 and the hardcover at $55. As of this article’s publication, the Kickstarter has already reached nearly $299,000 in pledges, far surpassing its original goal of $25,000. Let’s see if it reaches its secret $300,000 stretch goal. The Kickstarter ends on July 3 at 3 PM EST.
