NICE ART! Dark Horse has been having a little Geof Darrow renaissance with a new Shaolin Cowboy mini series and now, Lead Poisoning: The Pencil Art of Geof Darrow, an oversized hardcover collection of Darrow’s dazzling, yes I said dazzling, pencils. The 128 page book will come out just in time for the San Diego Comic Con and set you back a mere $34.99.
In September. Dark Horse is also releasing a new edition of Hard Boiled, Darrow’s seminal collaboration with Frank Miller, recolored by Dave Stewart. And Shaolin Cowboy: Who’ll Stop the Reign?, a new four issue Shaolin Cowboy series, hits in April.
If you’ve ever stopped by Darrow’s booth at a con, you know his pencils are actually insanely tight concept sketches, inspired warm-ups for his ligne clair vistas of violence and wonder. The book will include covers, never before seen art and more.
“Geof Darrow is one of the most talented creators to ever work in comics,” said Dark Horse Comics Publisher Mike Richardson in a statement. “In 2017 Dark Horse is proud to be celebrating over two decades of his amazing art with the release of Lead Poisoning, along with a brand new edition of Hard Boiled, the iconic graphic novel he created with comics legend Frank Miller. Not one to rest on his laurels, Geof is also busy creating mayhem with new, adventures of his epic character, the Shaolin Cowboy. ”
