The publisher of Hellboy comics has been doing art books based on popular video game franchises for years. Recently they announced a book which would focus on one of the grandfathers of the video game industry, Super Mario Bros. Today, Dark Horse revealed special variant covers for the Super Mario Encyclopedia Limited Edition. A book chronicling the more than 30 year history of Nintendo’s flagship character.

Like the standard edition, the book includes content from all seventeen Super Mario games spanning more than 30 years of the franchise’s history. This deluxe limited edition comes with an embossed slipcase designed to look like the iconic Super Mario Question Mark block. Inside, fans will uncover one of four holofoil covers: Super Mushroom, Fire Flower, Super Star, or 1-Up Mushroom. The book also includes a ribbon bookmark, printed with the original vine design from Super Mario Bros., and a sky-and-cloud design printed along the pages’ edge.

Since it’s meant to be a mystery, don’t count on knowing ahead of time which variant you’ll get. However it should be noted that each will be printed in equal quantities.

With Link and Mario art books published by Dark Horse, only Metroid and Kirby remain to be done from the Nintendo Mount Rushmore.

Super Mario Encyclopedia Limited Edition goes on sale October 23, 2018.
