Welcome to The Beat’s crowdfunding round-up: a collection of some of our favorite campaigns from the week including one-shots, on-goings, anthologies and everything in-between! This week we’re checking out Indigi-Show 2020, a modern Indigenous art convention, as well as the final issue of the paranormal mystery series Ma’Ari, and more.

Let’s get started!

Indigi-Show 2020: A Modern Indigenous Art Convention

indigi-show

Creators: Kayla Shaggy (author, organizer)
Goal: $5,000
End date: September 6, 2020
Goodies: A ticket to entry is $25, and other tiers include everything from digital comics, posters, stickers, and more.

Indigi-Show is a Modern Indigenous Art Convention for Indigenous creators to show their work as well as be fully compensated. Event held Sept. 26th.

After con season was shelved this year, creators of all sorts were stuck with events, fees, books, and merchandise left up in the air. Indigi-Show is meant to help those professionals – specifically Indigenous ones – with a dedicated virtual convention. The $5,000 goal pays speakers, panelists, designers, and creators who, as Shaggy describes, are pushed to the margins. Indigi-Show kicks off on September 26, and is exclusively available to those who either backed the campaign, or purchased a ticket, or were gifted one by backers.

A LGBT+ friendly YA paranormal adventure about 2 witches tasked to protect Palermo, Italy.

Based on Sicilian folklore, Ma’Ari is founded on the idea that witches are creatures from “The Outside” – a parallel world – coming into our own with unknown intent. At least usually it’s unknown, but in this case, that’s to figure out why a town member was found dead with a symbol carved into their forehead, in spite of a new leader who’s hellbent on kicking the coven out. This is the finale of the entire series, so backers have the chance to catch up on the entire series and all of its gorgeous artwork. Make sure to check that out in an extended preview at the link below.

A fantasy comic about two princesses from different worlds.

The Moonstone Diadem is a fantasy/romance series from Big Viking Games’ Lead Artist, Angela O’Hara. It’s an all-ages story of Princess Georgina’s search for her kingdom’s crown jewels, stolen long ago by the elves of the hidden realm. To get them back, she’ll have to enlist the help of new friend and elf princess, Seren, to right the past and return the heirloom. O’Hara hand-illustrates in a watercolor style reminiscent of fairytales and folklore.

God Puncher Vol. 1 “Tim Finnly: Wanted!”

god-puncher

Creators: Lane Lloyd (author)
Goal: $3,000
End date: September 24, 2020
Goodies: Grab a PDF for $10, a physical trade for $20, or pledge more for posters, commissions, and more!

A TPB of the comic God-Puncher!

God-Puncher is exactly what it sounds like: a man named Tim Finnly wields magical talking gauntlets in his quest to kill gods, drawn an artistic style Lloyd describes as heavily influenced by Dr. Seuss. More on that in our interview here, but anyway, this campaign collects the first five issues of the series as Finnly tries to escape the clutches of Time Lord Syrem. Fans of Hellboy and Head Lopper, keep your eyes peeled for this one.
