It’s time for another look at which digital comics Comixology has on sale right now.  What are the good reads and what are the good buys?  We’ll be taking a look mostly at the sales that are ending by Thursday and what an eclectic set of digital comics it is.

As always, DC and Marvel have dueling sales.  This time out, Marvel is all-in for Spidey with THREE concurrent sales.

The biggest is probably the Nick Spencer / Ryan Ottley current run of Amazing Spider-Man.  The exact discount varies a little, but most of these volumes are 67% off — 5 issues worth for $2.99.  That’s a decent deal.  Note: Amazing Spider-Man: Hunted is Vol. 4 for this series, even if it isn’t properly labelled.  Also, while not on sale right now, I can’t recommend Superior Foes of Spider-Man enough.  By Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber, it’s this close to being a prequel and it’s hilarious.  This sale runs through Thursday (10/8).

Next up, running through Sunday (10/4) is the Green Goblin sale.  But it’s mostly a Spidey sale.  If you want some Goblin in your life, I’d recommend going with the four Lee/Ditko and Lee/Romita Epic Collections.  Those are thick books at 60% for $7.99 and you’re getting prime material.  Possibly the more recent Red Goblin.

More Spidey and Spider-Man adjacent comics?  Marvel is happy to oblige.  The Silk sale is also running through Sunday (10/4). While you could opt for the Robbie Thompson run, or some of the Dan Slott Amazing Spider-Man featuring Silk, the bang for your buy might be a title I’m really not that familiar with: Amazing Spider-Man & Silk: The Spider(Fly) Effect by Robbie Thompson, Tom Grummet and Todd Nuak is listed at 69% off — 550 pages for $4.99.  Now… it was originally an 8-issue infinite comic, so that might mean 160-180 pages of comics if you’re not counting effects, but it’s a nice discount.

DC still has their Events sale on through Monday (10/5) and it’s definitely worth browsing.  You like Batman and want a good deal on a good read? I’ve always found No Man’s Land to be the best of the 90s Batman line-wide events.  Gotham is cut off from the rest of the country and Batman’s rogues gallery start staking out their territories, tribal-style, amongst the wreckage.  This one is reprint in four volumes, three of which go over 500 pages long.  70% off at $5.99 each.

And for something with fewer capes, also running through Monday (10/5), there’s the Dark Horse Neil Gaiman sale.  As you may recall, Dark Horse has been adapting Neil’s prose work to comics for some time now.  You can save a little over the individual titles with The Neil Gaiman Library, Vol. 1.  You might have raised an eyebrow at Mister X: The Archives being in the sale.  While Mister X is Dean Motter’s baby, Neil and Dave McKean do have a story in it.  Mister X is a science fiction series involving architecture and insomnia.  There is a real murderer’s row of talent in that book, also including Bill Sienkiewicz, Los Bros. Hernandez, Seth and Ty Templeton, among others.  It’s worth a look.
