One of the most difficult things about the time of COVID-19 for parents is keeping kids occupied an extra 8 hours a day. Tomorrow, you can tune into independent bookstore Politics & Prose’s Chris Eliopoulos virtual event. Eliopoulos is a popular cartoonist and letterer who has gained prominence as the illustrator of the bestselling Ordinary People Change the World series of picture books written by Brad Meltzer. Here’s his bio from Penguin-Random House’s website:

Christopher Eliopoulos began his illustration career as a letterer for Marvel and has worked on thousands of comics, including Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius, Pet Avengers, and Cow Boy, all of which he wrote and illustrated. He is the illustrator of the New York Times–bestselling Ordinary People Change the World series of picture book biographies. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and their identical twin sons.

Tomorrow, Chris is speaking about a book he both wrote and drew, The Yawns Are Coming, targeted at children ages 4-8. Here’s a brief description:

It’s sleepover night, and two best friends have a lot on their to-do list. They can’t wait to stay up all night to accomplish it all. But everywhere they turn, the dastardly Yawns threaten to overtake them. Those Yawns might even bring Dozes, Snores, and Sleepies! Will two pajama-clad heroes be able to outrun them? This witty, adorable picture book succinctly captures the magic of best-friendship and childhood sleepovers.
