Later this month AfterShock Comics will release Chicken Devil #4, the final issue of the dark comedy crime series from writer Brian Buccellato, artist Hayden Sherman, and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. Today The Beat is pleased to present an exclusive first look at the conclusion, which finds the series’ titular hero faced with the question of what comes next.

Here’s how AfterShock describes Chicken Devil #4:

The earth- (and glass-) shattering final chapter of volume one! On the heels of his first big victory, Mitchell Moss is thrown a major curveball that has him scrambling to finish what he started so he can move on with his life. But how do you un-break bad after you’ve gone on a kill-cray rampage?

Back when the series was first announced, writer Brian Buccellato described what appealed to him about the story of Chicken Devil, and how the series differs from a lot of his previous work:

“There’s something about a darkly comedic world with ‘normal’ people and heightened violence that really plays into my sensibilities. I’ve been known for doing down the middle superhero stuff and horror books… but haven’t really leaned into this weirder side of my tastes. Chicken Devil is a major move in that direction.”

As the AfterShock description notes, Chicken Devil #4 isn’t the end for these characters, just for the series’ first arc, so keep an eye out for the title to return at some point in the future. In the meantime, check out the exclusive-four page preview of the forthcoming finale below. The final issue of the series arrives in stores and digitally on Wednesday, January 26th.
