Frédéric Brrémaud and Paola Antista‘s exploration of feline companionship is coming to a new audience. Dark Horse Comics has announced, exclusively via The Beat, a new translation of the duo’s cat-centric series, Cats!: Purrfect Strangers. Translated from French by Annie Gullion, the all-ages graphic novel will collect three albums of the series originally published as Chats! by publisher Paquet.

Here’s how Dark Horse describes Cats!: Purrfect Strangers:

Best friends Manon, Erika, and Camille see adventure every day, but when all three become cat owners, everything changes—for better or for worse! One cat’s mischief gets him into trouble when he decides to play chase with the wrong prey. Another surprises the girls with his new skill—mimicking scary movies! And just when the girls decide to wind down for a calm and relaxing night, the cats declare play time! Grow up with these quirky cats and share in all the excitement, frustration, and fun that comes with raising a cat.

Brrémaud is a prolific French comics writer. Several of his books, including Brindle and the Love series, both with illustrator Federico Bertolucci, have previously been brought to American audiences by Magnetic Press. Italian artist Antista has done work for Dark Horse previously, teaming with Cecil Castellucci for an adaptation of Frozen. The first of the duo’s Chats! albums, Chats-tchatcha, was published in 2010, with the most recent sixth book in the series released in 2015.

From Jim Davis‘s Garfield to Jeffrey Brown‘s Cat Getting Out of a Bag, there’s a long tradition of comics about the perils and pleasures of cat ownership, and Brrémaud and Antista’s stories sound like a lot of fun. Check out Antista’s cover for the new edition below. Look for Cats! Purrfect Strangers to arrive in comic shops on Wednesday, September 29th, and in wide release on Tuesday, October 12th.
