New books that are out just in time for MoCCA, which will be held at the Lexington Armory this weekend. This is what folks emailed us, and if the past is any indicator about five seconds after this post goes up a million voices will cry out in terror at not having emailed me, so expect a part two later today!
The MoCCA Dining Guide 2013 Edition
This is our fourth guide to dining in the mysterious area surrounding the Lexington Armory on 26th and Lexington, and in the last year this area—now known at NoMad—has become one of the city's culinary hot spots, with high-end restaurants like The Nomad and Maysville getting the ink. But fear not, as always, there is much cheap (well, by New York City standards) yet amazing grub to be grabbed nearby. Of course, great food is always a subway ride away, but if you don't mind walking a few blocks you won't be disappointed. We've updated some of last year's listings but there are some new standouts.

A&E has brought back the classic Psycho house with a modern day prequel to the events of that film: watch young Norman Bates overwhelmed by a weird his weird possessive mom, Norma. And now there's a graphic novel tie-in, written by a passel of folks—including show runner Carlton Cuse—and drawn by Emma Vieceli. It's a free download for iPad called Jiao's Story—at 72 pages it's a good value, although the person who emailed me this tip labeled it "misogynist." Haven't read it yet myself. here's the preview pages:
RIP: George Gladir
The co-creator of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, George Gladir passed away Wednesday night at the age of 88. The winner of the 2007 Bill Finger Award, Gladir wrote countless classic Archie stories in a career that went back to the 50s. Even in the last decade, he was still creating comics and attending Comic-Con to promote them, as recounted in this touching memorial by friend Batton Lash:
