Marvel’s Joe Quesada will announce ‘a new era for a classic character’ on The...
Oh yeah and speaking of the mainstream…when Marvel announced a new book via a very perplexed cast on The View, it was unstadnabale bcuase both are owned by Disney. However, The Colbert Report is owned by Viacom, so tonight's Joe Quesada appearance and book announcement is a little more "authentic" if you will. Also, props to Marvel for a creative way around the San Diego Show biz news logjam.

The View announces something about Angela a woman becoming Thor
OOPS -- ALL WRONG! It's Jason Aaron and Russell Dautermann! on some unspecified Lady Thor. But Angela still seems likely. But note the talk about female audience in the pr! Okay that's the last time I ever play guessing games!
Marvel is excited to announce an all-new era for the God of Thunder in brand new series, THOR, written by Jason Aaron (Thor: God of Thunder, Original Sin) complimented with art from Russell Dauterman (Cyclops).
Marvel to announce new title on The View
Marvel promises to reveal something "explosive" on The View tomorrow. Is it Mark Millar's chili recipe? Is it who killed the Watcher? Is it...
Review: Spider-Man 2099 #1 — Everything new is old again
The Marvel Universe of 2099 debuted in 1993 with four titles, one of which was Spider-Man 2099. The bulk of the series, featuring Miguel O’Hara as Spider-Man battling supervillains and the evil-future-corporation of Alchemax, was written by Peter David.
I love Peter David. He’s a wonderful writer who knows dialogue, structure, and character development. David is a superhero in his own right -- when he suffered a stroke in 2012, he broke the news himself on his blog a few days later, and he’s been writing comics pretty consistently since his recovery. It’s flat-out wonderful that David is writing a Spider-Man 2099 comic in the year 2014, the actual 21st century.
Nice Art: Jeff Smith covers Rocket Raccoon for SDCC Marvel exclusive
I've wondered in the past if Rocket Raccoon would get overexposed before Guardians of the Galaxy comes out. Well as long as that exposure is swell variant covers by Jeff Smith, I have no worries about that.

Review: Legendary Star Lord #1 – A Good Start
Falling in line with the upcoming theatrical release of Guardians of the Galaxy, a couple of the team's more likable (and perhaps a touch more scandalous) characters will also be seeing some center-stage comic debuts. The token human of the group happens to be one of those lucky two; Star Lord! Perhaps better known in the comic itself by his human name, the character Peter Quill will be appearing in his own reoccurring comic entitled Legendary Star Lord.

Marvel Month-to-Month Sales: May 2014—Original Sales
Original Sin is Marvel’s big new event and it debuted at 147k and then dropped down to 92k. But is that good for a major event book? For fun I pulled the numbers for #1 issues of the last several big event books from Marvel to see how Original Sin stacks up. As you can see out of these 7 books it ranks 5th. I did better than Siege and Fear Itself, but worse than Age of Ultron, AVX, Secret invasion or Civil War. Two other interesting trends to note is that events have become more frequent and sell worse. I cherry picked these events because they fell around the same time of year as Original Sin and were Avengers-focused, but the last few years have been very event heavy and sales have been dropping overall on these events. They are still the best-selling books of their month generally but Marvel has yet to recapture the excitement and sales of Civil War.
Nice Art: Skottie Young, Paolo Rivera cover various Marvel comics
Marvel is always generous with artwork in their emails, some of it quite notable. Over the last 24 hours they released this nice cover...
