SDCC ’17: Battlestar Galactica producers discuss downsides of Netflix streaming model
When Battlestar Galactica launched in 2004 on SyFy, it defined the concept of “binge-watching” television for millions of Americans (to the point that the concept was parodied in a sketch on Portlandia). But producers Ron Moore and David Eick, who were on-hand for the Battlestar Galactica reunion panel at San Diego Comic Con, aren’t sure the show would have thrived in the same way in newer streaming models that encourage binge-watching.

SDCC ’17: SyFy’s THE EXPANSE offers free escape room
Escape rooms are pretty trendy right now, so it makes to see one pop at SDCC off-site events this year – the room, presented by Alcon Television Group and themed to SyFy’s series The Expanse, pits two teams (between 4-5 people on a team) against one another in a race to escape a failing ship. The event is located at 450 2nd Avenue and is open from 10 AM to 7 PM Thursday and Friday, 9 AM to 7 PM Saturday, and 10 AM to 6 PM on Sunday.

There's no shortage of off-site events at SDCC this year, and USA’s Mr. Robot is back on the ground with a new concept. At a makeshift E Corp bank located at 327 4th Avenue, fans can open an "account" with E Corp, loaded with 20 Ecoin cryptocurrency. The event is open from 11 AM - 7 PM through Saturday and then from 11-4 PM Sunday.
