Kickstarter unveils a month of comics events
Since launching, Kickstarter has funded 2,652 comics projects, raising $37 million. Comics have a 49.72% success rate—the fourth highest after dance, music and theater, so it's a well established category for the crowdfunding giant.
In the month of April, Kickstarter's Brooklyn office will host several comics related seminars and events. You can RSVP for all of these on the Kickstarter page, but here's a rundown, with a pair of events this Thursday.

Kids Comics Con set for April 25th in the Bronx
Long before comics for younger readers were fashionable, there was Kids Comic Con, the brainchild of writer Alex Simmons. The ninth edition of the event will be held this year on April 25th at the Bronx Community College from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be comics guests, workshops, face painting and everything else needed for a fun family day.

Tonight to do NYC: Alt-Weekly Comics show at SoI
This one is pretty special, a joint Society of Illustrators/SPX exhibit focusing on Alt-Weekly Comics. The show is jointly curated by Bill Kartalopoulos and Warren Bernard so its pretty much guaranteed to be museum quality. Bill K has been posting tantalizing sneaks at the events FB page, and this is pretty certain to be a generation-defining reunion of the 90s Max Fish crowd at the very least.
