Review: Jupiter Adds To The Legacy Of Millar & Quitely

1
The 10-month gap between issues might be deterrent for anyone who’s been following this series since issue one. However there’s enough in issue five to justify the wait. If we scored books this one would come in damn near perfect.

Review: X “I’m Coming Over… Mostly To Kill”

3
There’s X-Men, Xzibit, the band X (if you get the reference I'll buy you a soft pretzel if you're onsite at SDCC), and there’s Dark Horse Comics vigilante simply known as X. Since the characters reboot under writer Duane Swierczynski and artist Eric Nguyen the series continues to be a rollercoaster of highs and lows.

Review: Fables: The Wolf Among Us stars a well-realized wolf in Sheriff’s clothing

2
It seems fitting that Fables: The Wolf Among Us is Vertigo's "first ever digital-first series" according to the publisher's website. If you can parse that distinction, meaning Vertigo has never before released a comic series in digital format prior to it's print debut, it makes a strange sort of sense that they chose this particular series to hold the title of first-ever first digital. Fables: The Wolf Among Us #1 is a comic series based on the popular Telltale video game series of the same name, which was itself based on the 14-time Eisner award winning series from creator Bill Willingham.

Tom Hardy drops out of Suicide Squad, Jake Gyllenhaal a possible replacement

Marvel: Heed the cry—we need a new swimsuit special

2
As mentioned earlier, I've been on a deadline and haven't had time to jump all over breaking industry news, but that worked out just fine in the case of the disappearing Marvel Swimsuit Issue update. It seems artists Kris Anka and Kevin Wada posted some images of what would be a NEW Marvel Swimsuit issue, updating the strangest comic of the 90s with a much needed new look at lycra and tencel. The initial pin-ups of some lissome lads were tasty, but the women had not even been drawn when the project had been KILLED. KILLED DEAD, taking with it the hopes and dreams of a thirsty nation.

Review: Justice League Throne of Atlantis Animated Goes Deep

18
Justice League: Throne of Atlantis is the animated film follow up to last year’s Justice League War that introduced the New 52 to DC Animation. The last few movies have been a roller coaster of quality. Flashpoint Paradox was excellent while War and Assault on Arkham suffered from execution problems. While the film has a few standout moments Justice League TOA doesn’t quite parallel the emotional strength of its Geoff Johns Aquaman source material.

Review: time, tide and Agent Carter wait for no man

8
If Marvel was hoping Agent Carter would improve on its ratings from last week’s 2-episode season premiere, they must be somewhat disappointed this morning. While Agent Carter still snagged second place behind NBC’s Parks and Recreation, it’s ratings are still down 21 percent from last week. Marvel should be interested in more than just ratings, as the show has received considerable critical acclaim.

Review: It Looks Like Mortal Kombat, It Walks Like Mortal Kombat, But…

0
With the highly anticipated next chapter of the game set to release later this year, DC Comics is continuing to capitalize on Warner Bros acquisition of the property with a prequel comic book series. Releasing first digitally, Mortal Kombat X will bridge the gap between the game released in 2011 and its follow up this year.
