A while ago we alerted you to Faith Erin Hicks' experimental HUNGER GAMES comics adaptation (PUBLISH THIS SOMONE PLEASE!!!!!!), but she just completed a new one about Hunger Games for Tor.com. And this time it's very, very personal...and sobering.

The most eye-popping adaptation of Burroughs ever, and perhaps the most naked Martians you will ever see.

It's been a while since we saw a new batch of cartoonist-inspired covers for Penguin Graphic Classics editions, all designed by Paul Buckley. But here you go. Mike Mignola on Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness (which was adapted as APOCALYPSE NOW, for those who came in late).

Mark Waid's DAREDEVIL seems to be filling the "superhero comic for people who don't like superheroes" slot with topnotch stories and art. Chris Samnee (THOR: THE MIGHTY AVENGER) is joining the book as a part-time artist in #12, in which busy Matt Murdock makes time for a lady pal, Kirsten McDuffie, who is actually hoping to make time to discover his secret identity.

On the "authority" scale, the idea of New Yorker cover editor Françoise Mouly launching a blog about New Yorker covers and art would rank....very high. And so Blown Covers, which she describes as a personal blog. Although it's unafiliated with the New Yorker, she's holding weekly themed New Yorker cover contests and is "always on the lookout for good ideas and great artists." So yeah, this is an audition.

Is the world ready for a new graphic novel from outsider musician/artist Daniel Johnston? Probably. Johnston, whose long career as a very eccentric musician was the subject of the 2006 documentary THE DEVIL AND DANIEL JOHNSTON, is also an avid comics reader, and this is his first GN. It comes complete with added soundtrack and app for the 360º experience. For those not familiar, Johnston is somewhere north of Wild Man Fischer and south of They Might be Giants and early Beck.
